What Georgia Boys Do When the Snowman Melts

The snow came on Sunday and was gone by Tuesday all except all the cute snowmen around town. Ours lasted till Thursday when he fell backwards. Once the boys got home from school and had snack they were ready t0 go outside and enjoy the last little bit of snow we had. Mister Snowman was soon flying across our yard. Snow is very cold when it hits ya even if it is 68 outside! Gavin got me more than a few times. :)

The snow made it to Newnan!

The snow arrived a little after 11 or so. I have taken tons of pictures today so will let them tell the story of our day.
My yellow bells are not happy
Our poor little pink flower. The front yard about 11 am
I think he should wear a hat next time.
check out our cold flower now about 12:30
before we walked on it
almost 3 inches.. around 3 and still snowing he got his hat but still no gloves and coat. LOL
finally we got dressed for the weather. This is around 4 or so
I love this shot. No wait, this shot is even better. GET HIM CURTIS again! time to build a real snowman. see the little one on the wagon every snowman needs a face Okay so we made a snow polar bear. LOL The snow has stopped and we have enjoyed it but it can leave now. :) We are ready for spring! Hey Julie, we got more snow than Bowden did. That's a first for us. :)

Spring in the air?

It is March first, just a few weeks till spring. We have already had some great high 60's and low 70's days. Flowers are sticking up through the leaves in my flower beds. Curtis has noted that some of the tree's are beginning to look like "big broccoli and cauliflower trees". Nana has already bought her "dirt" to get started planting and we have been seed shopping already. But the weather people are telling us we will get snow today and tonight. OH MAN, Nana just im'd me and it is snowing in Bowdon as I type! She says it is so pretty! Hang on, I hear the phone. It is Sylvia and it is snowing at their house too. :) Where's my snow? All I have so far is sleet.

Happy Birthday to my oldest

Seems like yesterday I was waiting on our sweet baby boy to enter the world. 21 days late! 18 hours of labor! But 25 years worth of wonderful memories that I would not trade for anything. I will not share so many things that are in my heart right this second, cause well, he is 25 and he would rather I keep my thoughts to myself. Have a wonderful day James and know we love ya very much.

Should I

It is a little after noon and all the kiddo's are napping. Jayden our newest little team mate is almost 10 months old and has had a great first day at La-La's house. Should I play on the computer, clean house, clean the van out, check the real mail box for all the dreaded bills, read my book or take a nap during the next hour I have free? Guess I will update the blog for a bit. Everything is about the same here. Oh wait, I hit a bird in all the fog this morning. Biggest bird I ever did see. Van made it okay but the bird sad to say did not make it. The boys all loved it and have shared with everyone that La-La killed the bird. They have a way at making the grossest things sound cute. Gavin was sharing with me yesterday about his Aunts house. He informed me she had a mouse in her house and his Uncle shot it. Now this 4 year old took great pride in the fact his Uncle saved the day and got the mouse with the BB gun. So if you need a mouse shot give me a call I know someone who knows someone.

Curtis and I are totally on a reading kick. He is reading A Series of Unfortunate Events and is on book 2. I just love the time we get to spend together snuggling up on the sofa each with a book and blanket. Last night I was really beat didn't plan to read with him. But about 8 he came carrying the blankets and his book and said "ya ready mom". How could I say no. So we turn the tv off and begin to read. The more he read the more he laughed, soon I found myself not reading my book at all but just watching him read and enjoy his story. Every few pages he tells me about something but lord if I could tell you about it. His idea of a good book and mine are not the same. But I love the fact he loves to read. Where did we go wrong with our oldest. Hahaha I can't remember Little James ever reading with me. As a toddler I would read to him while he played and of course when he first started reading he would read some but we have all the books we got for him and they were never even opened. Curtis took care of that! Wonder how long my 10 year old will want to read with me. :) Time to go get things ready for the kids to wake up. Gosh nap time sure is short. Enjoy the small things everyday guys. Life goes fast!

It's a New Year

Here we are in 2009 and I have yet to update this blog with all the Christmas pictures. Hey, at least I took all the decorations down around the house and yard. It has turned pretty cold for Georgia. Waking up to 10 degrees is no fun at all, worse than that for me, is waking in the middle of the night dripping wet and not able to breathe! I totally hate having our heat set on 68 and am ready for the cold air to leave so I can go back down to 58-64. James has suggested we get different bedrooms. HAHAHA How the heck did I marry someone so cold natured? Oh well, he is the most warm hearted man I know so it evens out I guess. Reports cards came out this week. Curtis is doing well with grades making A/B's again and this time NO n's (needs improvement) He continues to amaze me with his knowledge of so many things and his sweet laid back way to life. He enjoys reading and all thing science. We have him registered to do Camp Invent again this summer and he is looking forward to that. One of his teacher's made the comment they are closer to 5th graders now they 4th graders. YIKES, I am so not ready to think of him as a 5th grader. James and Sylvia and the grands are doing great. It is snowing at their house as I write this. Andrew called to tell me and he is so very excited to see them snow flurries! He told me I had to get dressed and go outside. Just cold here, no flurries yet. Sylvia will be 25 tomorrow and then little James in Feb. How did it happen so fast! I guess that's it for this time. Will try to have something fun and exciting to share next go round. :)

Pictures and more pictures

More pictures to come. I need to find them. ACKKKKK

Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & the day after

When I was growing up Christmas Eve was always spent at my grandmother and grandfathers home in Bowdon. Lots of food, lots of people and lots of wonderful memories. There was 6 grandkids and we filled that house full of love and noise! My mother moved back into her home place around 1988 and since then Christmas Eve has been spent right there where I spent all my young Christmas eve's. Some years we have the house more than full. I remember years where it was us and my aunt and her children and then years where my brother and his family were able to be home with us, then the years where the home was opened up to the neighborhood to tour, years it was just us and mom and Bob, and now the past couple of years my grands have been able to be there for Christmas Eve. If the walls to this house could talk! Having family all spread out and some in the Military makes for long standing traditions to be hard to hang onto. The house is full of awesome food (no one cooks like my mama), lots of love and yep still filled with noise no matter if there is 5 people or over 20! Christmas day has always been spent at home so the kids can play with what Santa brings and everyone can just be lazy. This year I cooked a big breakfast and a ham and we ate on that all day. I saved my traditional Christmas meal cooking for the day after when James, Sylvia and the grands and Nana came to our house. Bob stayed in Bowdon where he is most at home. He had lots of good left overs from mom's Christmas Eve dinner. :) Three days of wonderful get togethers. The grands spent the weekend with us and had a great time but were ready to go home to play with their Santa stuff on Saturday but daddy had to work and then had awards that night, so we may have to rethink them staying over that soon after Christmas next time. We took them home early Sunday so they had the day to play with all them toys. Above see the pictures from our fun times..
